Worked in conjunction within Building 180 to present two sculptures and a large-scale mural, illuminated by black light, for the City of Napa's 2024 Lighted Festival. As an on-site Producer, I spearheaded the seamless execution of load-in, the event itself, and load-out processes. My responsibilities entailed meticulously crafting installation schedules for four diverse setups, coordinating the utilization of heavy equipment and volunteer manpower across multiple teams, and facilitating smooth operations by providing hands-on support, tool sharing, and general assistance to each installation team throughout the event.

Economic Impact

I worked under Building 180 to project manage the transformation of the Las Vegas restaurant and bar, La Mona Rosa, to have a new vibe, look, and feel by artist, Mr. B Baby by updating with an exterior mural, new menu art, and hanging restaurant art.

Michelle Guerrero, aka Mr. B Baby’s work, explores the relationship between Mexican folk art and children’s books. Her artwork is a whimsical twist, combining the cultural world with a playful, colorful touch. She was raised in a predominantly Spanish-speaking home in Chula Vista with a single mother and her older sister. Her hardworking mother taught her that the sky was the limit, and she hopes to portray the same message through her art.

Mr. B Baby’s art is heavily influenced by her culture and her experiences in life. As someone who battled with depression and anxiety starting from a young age, she advocates for positive mental health and hopes to inspire other people that adversities can be overcome through artistic pursuit. Mr. B Baby’s goal is to create art for everyone and, in the process, connect with people and bring happiness through her creations. She creates a wide range of characters who all tell their own unique story.

I had the privilege of being an on-site Producer for load-in, the event, and load-out. NowArt LA is the brilliant company that put this incredible event together!

The first-ever LUMINEX: Dialogues of Light, an outdoor digital public art exhibition, transformed a five-block radius of the South Park district of DTLA on April 10, 2021, for one night only.

Presented at a pivotal moment (as the transition out of the pandemic began), LUMINEX LA safely welcomed 15,000 attendees. More than 13,200 people utilized the LUMINEX interactive map for this self-guided, walkable exhibition. Nearly 400 joined from around the world via live stream. Local businesses and buildings were personally invited and saw increased foot traffic and sales. And 80,000 logged onto www.luminexla.com.

Designed as a site-specific video art experience, LUMINEX LAprojected upon six architecturally distinct walls; some historic buildings, some newer, all juxtaposed against the immense LA skyline. Shedding light on the magic of our City.

The installations featured one-of-a-kind digital art from each artist, distinct audio, live performances, augmented reality, multi-channel video art, and immersive experiences.

Powered by elite Panasonic projectors and audio amplified by Show Imaging, Inc., this technology marvel required custom calculations to ensure top resolution, clarity, and brightness that matched the quality of the artwork. Massive scaffoldings and forklifts made it possible to project across huge parking lots and walls scaling more than two hundred plus feet wide and nearly a hundred feet tall. The intersection of technology and art.

A collective of community sponsors made this premier possible. For this, we are grateful.

LUMINEX LA is the first of many. This project can be applied to urban environments in cities around the world.

In recognition of the many difficulties faced by people who journey from their homes hoping to find a better life in the United States, Mexican artist Alfredo “Libre” Gutierrez has created Transportapueblos: Companion of Migrants, a series of coyote sculptures positioned along the train route through Mexico from its southern to its northern border. Having crossed the border, migrants still need support, so Libre created his first coyote sculpture in Los Angeles at El Pueblo, where it is located to address those coming to and from Union Station.

Libre’s sculptures display vital information such as maps, messages from migrants to family members, and telephone numbers of legal organizations and services. This Los Angeles coyote rises out of the earth as a powerful reminder that some of us have made a brutal journey from intolerable circumstances to seek a better life for themselves and their families.

Libre works with volunteers from the community, as his artwork is deeply connected to the needs of a place and is created to inspire hope and bring support to those in need. Visit @Libre_Hem on Instagram to learn more about the artist.

Dear Neighbor is a project-based in the belief that housing is a human right. We understand that despite their numbers, our homeless neighbors are all but invisible.  We also believe that Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) is crucial to housing every Angeleno, that homeowners' fears about the homeless are based on stereotypes and misinformation, and that empathy and fact-based research are crucial to changing hearts and minds.

As of 2018, Los Angeles County is home to the second largest population of settled homeless in the United States.  76% of our city voted to fund the construction of PSH - one of the primary solutions to helping our homeless neighbors.  Unfortunately, many of these construction projects have been blocked by a small but vocal minority of local homeowners, demanding that these shelters be built somewhere else.

To that end, we've partnered with our homeless neighbors to humanize this issue.  We're presenting messages from our most vulnerable communities through murals, recorded interviews, and written letters.  These messages highlight the importance of housing in people's lives and what PSH can do for them.  We've also included statistics and facts that both support these messages and dispel myths about shelters' effects on communities.

Our goal is to share these messages, help educate the public, and help you make an impact.  Together we can make a home for every Angeleno.  Welcome to #DearNeighborLA.

To increase awareness on this issue, 72U, a creative residency inside the agency 72andSunny, created an art installation in Venice Beach titled 14,000 and Counting Missing Childhoods.

The 72U art installation is a 20-foot polycarbonate plastic milk carton supported by white coated steel. It is trimmed in white neon and contains interior clear plastic shelves with 14,000 half gallon wax coated milk cartons.

The milk carton is a nod to the missing children campaign that ran in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. In this case, they are missing from their homes, families, and childhoods. These words and more of what they’re missing can be found on every milk carton.

72U is comprised of ten residents; we come from everywhere with one thing in common—we want to create.

Throughout history, the number 10 has symbolized completion. 

But in order for us to become complete on an individual basis, we have to analyze what makes us, us. 

We are an amalgamation of all of the places we are from, the moments, decisions, and origins which formulate our identities. We stand here as individuals because of all of those elements.
